Webinar: WIOA and the Unified State Planning Process; Part 2 of a 4 Part Series

Posted by Alexandra Kielty - On April 03, 2015 (EST)

This Webinar is hosted by the LEAD Center and is Part 2 of 4 in a series on the Workforce Innovations and Opportunity Act (WIOA) from a Disability Perspective. It is scheduled for April 29, 2015 from 3:00 to 4:30 PM Eastern Time.

Signed into law by President Obama last July, WIOA maintains a primary focus on assisting job seekers and workers with and without disabilities to succeed in the labor market and matching employers with skilled workers who may benefit from education, skills training, and career services. At a state and local level, Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) must engage in a unified state planning process that will enhance their focus on cross system collaboration (Title I - Adult and Youth programs, Title II - Adult Literacy, Title III - Wagner-Peyser Employment Services, and Title IV - Rehabilitation Act).

WIOA represents new opportunities for support for job seekers with disabilities that increases responsibility of WIBs and American Job Centers to be fully accessible and offer necessary accommodations to provide job seekers with disabilities effective and meaningful participation in the use of skills training and career pathways for 21st century jobs.
